Key Environmental Protection / Mitigation Measures

Key environmental protection / mitigation measures for this project are:

• Maintenance of traffic across Highway 403 according to the construction staging and traffic management schemes;
• Noise and dust control;
• Minimized vegetation removal adjacent to the bridge abutments;
• Separation of the work area from watercourses at 3 of the bridge sites; and
• Management of excess materials.

The proposed bridge rehabilitation work within the Highway 403 corridor will require some night-time work. To facilitate this, an exemption from the City of Hamilton Noise Control By-law No. 11-285 will be requested.
